Breathtaking Ipsy January 2016 “All Eyes on You” Review

Ipsy January 2016

I’ve been subscribed to several subscription boxes over the past couple of years. Ipsy is one I’ve been subscribed to for a few months and love. If you follow the link and join Ipsy, I do get referral points. They send out a Glambag monthly.

Ipsy All Eyes on You

Ipsy sends out 5 samples a month in a cute little makeup bag. That’s right, you get a makeup bag every month! Often they include a full-size product or two in the mix. This month the Glam Bag focused on eyes. The cost is $10 a month including shipping. It’s shipped via DHL Global Mail. I’ll admit that tracking gets a little weird because DHL processes through a hub before handing off to USPS for delivery. One of my Glam Bags got lost in the mail and Ipsy was quick to send me a replacement.

You can review your products every month and share different things on Facebook and Twitter for reward points. You can then exchange reward points for products.

All About Eyes – Ipsy January 2016

Here’s a close up picture of what was included this month. The Glam Bag is made out of a nylon feeling material. I’m not fond of the pattern, but I’m sure some people will love it.

theBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now) in Jac B Bronze 0.01 oz – Value $17 – full size

This eyeliner pencil is lovely. And it doesn’t budge with water. I had to use my Julep Love Your Bare Face cleanser to get it off my arm when I swatched it. I love the bronze and it highlights my hazel eyes.

Ingredients: dimethicone, trimethyl siloxy silicate, synthetic wax, phenylpropyldimethylsiloxysilicate, polyethylene, polyhydroxystearic acid, mica, caprylyl trimethicone, disteardimonium hectorite, propylene carbonate, lecithin, tocopherol, ascorbyl palmitate, citric acid, tin oxide. may contain / peut contenir [+/- titanium dioxide (ci 77891), iron oxides (ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 77499), carmine (ci 75470), black 2 (ci 77266 (nano)), ferric ammonium ferrocyanide (ci 77510), ferric ferrocyanide (ci 77510), chromium oxide greens (ci 77288), yellow 5 lake (ci 19140), blue 1 lake (ci 42090), ultramarines (ci 77007)]

Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Duo in Lavender Bloom 0.03 oz – Value $6 – full size (price for the duo from Pixi website in Apricot Glow)

Ipsy sent this in Lavender Bloom. It’s a lovely shadow. It goes on smoothly but doesn’t have much pigment payoff for me.

Ingredients: talc, mica, caprylic/capric triglyceride, polybutene, octyl dodecyl stearoyl stearate, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, tocopheryl acetate, may contain (+/-): iron oxides (ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 77499), manganese violet (ci 77742), red 40 lake (ci 16035), titanium dioxide (ci 77891)

PEEK Beauty Natural Stain Brow Powder 0.11 oz – Value about $8

A lovely brow powder made with natural and organic ingredients. It’s not tested on animals. It’s also gluten-free for those who are gluten intolerant or have celiac disease. I loved this powder. My hair is dyed with henna and one of the ingredients in this is henna, so the color matches very well. Now I’ll just have to practice my brow game. And have my brows shaped for me! Ha! This might be my favorite product in this bag though. The value is estimated because on the website it is sold in a 2 color pan and the individual colors look to be a bit bigger than this.

Ingredients: mica, zinc stearate, castor (Ricinus communis) seed oil, zinc stearate, tapioca starch, corn starch, silica, Rhus verniciflua, Cera silica, phenoxyethanol, tocopherols, helianthus annus seed wax, Coffea arabica(coffee seed oil), Shorea robusta resin, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary leaf oil), thyme oil, may contain: +/- iron oxides (c1 77499, ci 77491, c1 77492)

Swatches Jan 2016
Ipsy January 2016 All Eyes on You Review

Here are the swatches for the eye makeup. Left to right are theBalm eyeliner, Peek brow powder, and the two Pixi shadows. The Peek brow shadow builds up better than that, I think my flash washed it out a bit.

pur~lisse BLUE LOTUS 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum 0.24 oz – Travel Size – Value $33

What an amazing value on a sample! I’ve only tested this once so far, my eyes did seem less puffy and I looked less tired. It’s supposed to hydrate and lift, as well as fight wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness. We’ll see how well it works.

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Water (Aqua), Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Dimethicone, Pentylene Glycol, Glycerin, Isododecane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Methyl Gluceth-20, Squalane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Laureth -7, Hydrolyzed Lupine Protein Octenylsuccinate, Alaria Esculenta Extract, Butylene Glycol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Nymphaea Coerulea Flower Extract, Steareth-20, Chrysin, N-Hydroxysuccinimide, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone, Dipeptide-2, Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, PVP, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491).

Lasting Smiles Lip Balm in Peppermint Creme 0.15 oz – Value $3.99 – full size

Unfortunately, I’m unable to use this lip balm because of an allergy to Shea butter. It smells scrumptious though and contains organic fair trade ingredients that aren’t tested on animals. I’ll be passing it on to my husband to use while he’s at work. He works in a school and the air is so dry he often needs a lip balm. This is a great company though. According to the company website “With every 1,000 lip balms sold, one child receives the gift of a cleft lip or cleft palate surgery in the same countries we source our ingredients.”

Ingredients: cocos Nucifera (coconut) oil*, Cera alba (beeswax)*, helianthus annuus (sunflower) oil*, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil*, vanilla flavor*, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter*, theobroma cacao (cocoa) butter*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil*, tocopherol (vitamin e)*.

*organic certified. coconut oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter traded in compliance with fairtrade standards, total 43%

In total, the Glam Bag this month values about $66. That doesn’t include the value of the makeup bag itself. I think that’s an amazing value. There were 3 full-size products this month if you consider the Pixi a full size. They do occasionally offer these minis in Target.

I will try to list ingredients on any makeup, skincare, and food reviews if I’m able to locate an ingredient listing. I have many allergies and I understand the pain of having to search and search for ingredients.

* I purchase the Ipsy subscription myself.*
